Self Portrait: Using acrylic paint, I took a monotone picture of myself, and painted it to the best of my ability. Here, I learned how to mix colors further than I have before, how to create realistic skin tones, and how to use darker colours to create shading and the illusion of a 3-Dimensional space on a 2-Dimensional piece. The art elements I used included color, texture, value, and space which created design techniques like balance and contrast. This was a lot of fun to paint, especially with my enjoyment and wish to improve my drawings of people. It was a step forward to developing more of a realistic style with people rather than the "cartoonish" style I've grown used to.

Landscape Paintings: Using watercolor, I painted a scene (at different times of day) of a landscape based off of a photo I'd taken. In total, there are 3 paintings at dawn, day, and dusk. Here, I learned how to mix colors and use layering to create more of a 3-D illusion. The art elements I used include color, texture, and value. Meanwhile, I used design techniques like contrast. Together, these all created a sense of a third dimension and a feeling of time (based on color). I really enjoyed this project, and loved painting something from my own experiences!
